Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Musée Delacroix for its intimate, personal atmosphere and the charm of Delacroix's former home and studio. The tranquil garden is a highlight, offering a peaceful escape. While some wish for more detailed translations, the overall experience is highly valued as a quiet, worthwhile visit, especially with the benefit of free entry when showing a Louvre ticket.

"Beautiful and cozy (if a little warm in summer!). Maybe I missed it, but there wasn’t a pamphlet to help with some of the translations. However, there were more than enough English sections to keep up with. The garden is darling!"

Helena

"This museum is located in painter Eugène Delacroix's last apartment; he moved to this location on December 28, 1857, and remained until his death on August 13, 1863. It is both his home and studio. Rotating exhibits but the museum displays a lot of his work and even has one of his pallettes and some brushes. The garden in back is wonderful. Very quiet and restful. Chairs and benches are all around and it is a great spot for sitting and contemplating. There is a wonderful huge fig tree that has figs in season. Probably not there in Delacroix's time but nice to imagine it was. A great way to learn more about this important artist."

Robert Ballantyne

"A very worthwhile small museum in the vicinity of the St. Germain-des-Prés abbey church. The museum is basically comprised of Eugène Delacroix's apartment and separate studio building, exhibiting many of his works. The adjacent garden is a nice place to relax after the visit."
