Notre-Dame is overcrowded and in my opinion overrated. There are so many more beautiful churches in Paris. For example this one in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Founded in 558 as an abbey and later church, it is the oldest church in the entire city. This interior is an example of very early Gothic ⚜️

"Very nice church! The Abbaye de Saint-Germain-des-Prés is an absolute must-see in Paris! It’s one of the oldest churches in the city and full of charm and history. The atmosphere inside is so peaceful, with beautiful arches, paintings, and that soft light that makes everything feel timeless. You can really feel the history in every corner. It’s a quiet little escape from the busy streets of Saint-Germain. Truly a magical, inspiring place to visit!"

Patrick Tuniz

"Wonderful church. Actually my favorite in Paris and also the oldest church in Paris. Something about the ceiling paintings that make me feel very cozy and it looks so beautiful. Great short visit if you have time while arounf bd. Saint germain."

Rumeysa Durmaz

"The oldest church of Paris (VI century). It looks really impressive and exciting. Not sure if it’s only the weekends but you can hear organ music there which creates really very unusual atmosphere. Despite the Saturday afternoon it was not really crowded and easy to walk around. Recommendation to come in not only from religious perspective but from historical too."
