Visiting Reims for a day and night. Besides the cathedral any suggestions?

Any decent but cheap hotels? Also, maybe there is a must-see Champagne thingy in a driving distance up to 1 hour?

What else to see in Reims

I'm going to Reims to watch a football match in a couple of weeks and I have a few hours to kill before it starts. I've already been to Reims once before and I've done the touristy stuff from seeing the cathedral, cave tours, and lots of strolling around. I even ended up at the…

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Saint-Remi Museum for its rich and diverse collections, particularly the beautifully restored tapestries and Roman mosaics, all housed within a magnificent medieval abbey. The low entry fee is a significant plus, making it an excellent value. However, some travelers have experienced unexpected closures, highlighting the importance of checking opening hours.

"Excellent museum with a variety of collections from neolithic, gallo-roman architecture etc, through to 18th and 19th century French army uniforms helmets etc.
The Tapestries are worth seeing if nothing else. They have been repaired beautifully and presented in a very tasteful way in their own hall. They invite contemplation along with appreciation.
Do not be put off if the museum looks closed - it does - but check the times and see if the front door is open. Entry fees are very low. Max €5,50.
Don't miss it"

"The museum is located in the ancient Abbey of Saint-Remi, near the basilica of the same name.
I recommend visiting it before visiting the church.
It contains mainly Gothic-era sculptures and also features a collection of Roman artifacts and beautiful tapestries depicting the life of Saint-Remi"

Davide Cori

"The museum has some big spaces and the Abbey courtyard inside is lovely. The tapestry exhibition worth it. The general theme is very much circling around the Holy Remi person."
