What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the unforgettable experience of touring Veuve Clicquot's historic chalk cellars and enjoying their exquisite champagne tastings. The knowledgeable guides and the unique atmosphere of the underground caves are frequently highlighted as major draws. While the on-site café offers a pleasant dining option, some find it slightly pricier than alternatives. Overall, it's considered a must-visit for anyone in the Champagne region.
"Veuve Clicquot cafe and tour were unforgettable. We arrived early so that we could enjoy a bottle and some lunch before our tour of the cavern.
Lunch was very tasty. I had the burner and my wife had the pasta. Our server was friendly and helpful. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and assisted us in selecting a bottle.
A very comfortable lunch with a bottle of champagne at a very fair price. A great way to relax before touring the facility and learning about the Veuve Clicquot history and champagne."
Traveling G's
"Walking through the underground caves of Veuve Clicquot was an incredible and unique experience. The historical “crayères” (chalk cellars) are not only visually striking but also rich in history, adding depth to the visit.
All of the staff were welcoming and helpful throughout. A special mention goes to our guide, Gwen, who was both knowledgeable and attentive, making the tour even more engaging.
Top tip: Bring a cardigan, the caves stay quite cool, and after heavy rain, some areas tend to drip due to the chalk walls.
Beyond the caves, the on-site gift shop is well stocked with a range of Veuve Clicquot items, and the café has a vibrant, buzzing atmosphere that’s perfect for a post-tour glass of champagne, lunch or both. It is slightly more expensive than options in city centre. I added the menu to Café Clicquot google maps page if you would like to check.
If you’re anywhere near Reims, this champagne house is absolutely worth a visit."

"Great tour covering the history and manufacturing of their champagne. Tastings were great. Cheese pairings were spot on. I had some really excellent vintage 1990 champagne that was spectacular."
