What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Fenaille Museum as a 'best kept secret' in Rodez, highlighting its comprehensive history of the Rouergue region and its unique menhir statues. The museum's setting in a converted ancient townhouse with modern touches is also a draw, as is the friendly and knowledgeable staff. Some guests noted that exhibit explanations are primarily in French, suggesting a need for better multilingual support.
"The best kept secret in Rodez. This place has all you needs to learn of history of ancient Rouergue (the region of modern Rodez) through most era and even before man came to give a name to all the animals (as per Bob Dylan). Sometimes you may also be treated (like we were) to browse the installations of a temporary expo. We were highly interested by the exhibition about ancient statues of Ethiopia. Really recommended to spend some time in this very interesting museum which can be visited with no fee if you pay a ticket for Musée Pierre Soulages (alternatively you will enter the latter for free if you pay your 12€ visitor fee at Musée Fenaille) ."

"A very good little museum in the heart of Rodez. The museum is based in an ancient town house that has been converted and modern architecture applied to it, it works very well.
The museum charts the history of the area from prehistoric times, and houses local carved standing stones (see pics). Very nicely presented with descriptions in English for a lot of the exhibits.
Entry was 11 € for adults.
Should anyone from the museum read this review, please note the coin (see photos) is described as English but it isn't! Thanks."

"Very intersting museum located inside an old mansion. The staff is super nice and very knowledgeable. Our daughter (and us) enjoyed the visit."
