What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Sentier des Douaniers is a magnificent, albeit challenging, coastal hike offering breathtaking views and secluded beaches. While the lack of shade and potential for strong winds are drawbacks, starting early and being well-prepared with water and proper footwear makes it an unforgettable Corsican adventure.
"The customs trail is absolutely magnificent, especially if you are lucky enough to have sunshine. I preferred the part near Barcaghju but the whole trail is very beautiful 🤩
I took the shuttle to Barccagio (19¢) and then returned on foot.
It is not always very well signposted but you have to remember that, if there are several options, you should always choose the option that is closer to the sea.
From Barccagio, you have to stay on the beach until the end: the paths that leave the beach are not the coastal path."

"Very beautiful hike, off-season, varied landscapes. A splendid panorama."

"This trail starts from Macignaggio beach and ends on the long Barcaggio beach. This trail is of medium difficulty and requires suitable hiking footwear. It's spectacular and absolutely worth a try. It can be challenging under the August sun, so I recommend starting at 6:00 a.m., bringing plenty of water (2 liters per person). It's easier in cooler seasons or on cloudy days. I recommend caution due to the strong winds that can hit the Cape. After Tamarone beach (the first after the Macignaggio start), you'll find a splendid "Caribbean" white sand beach right across from the Finocchiarola islands. Continuing, you'll reach the beautiful little church of Santa Maria. It's also possible to take a shortcut from Tamarone to Santa Maria, just a 20-minute walk away. The trail is well marked. Continuing, you'll come across the Genoese tower, fascinating in its decay. The trail continues along a wonderful green cliff. The trail becomes more challenging and begins a challenging climb. Continue along the path to the second Genoese tower open to visitors. Another passage through an olive grove leads to Barcaggio."
