Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Chapelle Notre Dame du Haut Ronchamp for its breathtaking architecture and the mesmerizing play of light through its stained-glass windows. The serene atmosphere and stunning hillside location are frequently highlighted as major draws. Some minor drawbacks include the website's usability and the potential for renovations to impact certain views.

"I have come to this magic place high above the city of Ronchamp a couple of times; the first one in 1961 when I travelled here from southern Sweden with my mother in her Volvo P1800 sports car, filled with red wine from Burgundy, an adventure over several weeks, and the last time this rainy last Friday of April 2025. The chapel has now been almost completely renovated which was indeed needed. I was fortunate to come while the chapel choir was rehearsing, filling the interior magnificently with their voices. And the rain stopped from time to time allowing the few visitors this day to take their photos. Enjoy!"

"A stunningly beautiful chapel, well restored and looking as it did when built.
Restorations look complete and no scaffolding up now."

Sue Green

"The Notre Dame du Haut chapel by Le Corbusier has been on my must-visit list for years. Around the main chapel, Le Corbusier also designed some additional structures, including a charming little house where the priest still lives.

I wasn’t aware that Renzo Piano designed the ticket office and the monastery, or that Prouvé created the three bells for the chapel.

We visited around sunset, just before closing at 4:30 PM. The way the sunlight filtered through the windows was absolutely mesmerizing. I highly recommend planning your visit around this time. Keep in mind that the last entry is at 4:30 PM, and the site closes at 5 PM.

With a student ticket, we paid $6.50 per person, which felt reasonable for such a unique and unforgettable experience."
