"If you're in the Saint Emilion area, you'll want to visit this church for its historical stories. Walking through the church was very therapeutic, and finding all the little Easter eggs with our tour guide was really nice. Walked through the church, and ended up on the high ground of the city, right by the clock tower, to have the bird's eye view of everything. Would have loved to enter the catacombs and caves underneath the church some other day."

Architectural Journey Through Time

The Collegiate Church and Cloister is a fascinating example of evolving architectural styles. Its origins trace back to the 11th century, with substantial development occurring in the 13th and 14th centuries. Visitors can clearly distinguish between the older, more austere Romanesque section, characterized by its solid construction and rounded arches, and the later Gothic additions. This juxtaposition offers a tangible lesson in medieval architectural progression. Reddit

Walking through the church, you'll notice the distinct feel of each area. The cloister, with its column-lined courtyard and surrounding arched tombs, adds another layer of historical and atmospheric depth to the site. Instagram

For those interested in history and architecture, the Collegiate Church and Cloister provides a rich visual narrative. The phenomenal frescoes adorning the walls, though sometimes challenging to photograph due to lighting, offer glimpses into medieval artistry and religious storytelling.
