What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find the Saint-Leu-d'Esserent Abbey Church beautiful and historically significant, particularly noting its Romanesque and Gothic architecture and the unique, reimagined stained-glass windows. However, the primary drawback is the limited interior access, with most views restricted to a bay window, making visits during special events like Heritage Days highly recommended for a fuller experience.
"Beautiful abandoned abbey, unfortunately the doors are closed."

"Lovely!"
Helena Sannevik
"Saint-Nicolas Priory Church, Romanesque and Gothic in style. It dates from the 12th and 13th centuries and was built for the monks of the Cluniac Priory of Saint-Leu, founded in 1081 by Hugh of Dammartin. It overlooks part of the Oise Valley.
A little further down is the Banvin cellar (which takes its name from the ancient feudal right: Bannum Vinum). The monks stored and sold their wine there.
Visit during Heritage Days; otherwise, the interior is inaccessible and can only be seen through a bay window at the entrance."
