What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Pont de Kerisper for its magnificent panoramic views of the river, marina, and bay, calling it a fantastic viewpoint. The bridge's impressive arch and historical significance are also frequently highlighted. While generally loved, some find parking challenging during peak tourist seasons.
"The Kerisper Bridge, 86 meters high and 203 meters long, spans the Crac'h River. It allows access to the banks of La Trinité-sur-Mer and Saint-Philibert in just a few minutes.
It wasn't always this way. Before the existence of a bridge, crossings were made by ferry. But at this point in the Crac'h River, the currents are known for their strength, causing numerous accidents. The first bridge dates back to 1899. Built in the "Eiffel" style, it features two steel ramps, 100 meters long and 18 meters high, clearly recognizable by the builder's style. At that time, the crossing was a single lane, which restricted the comings and goings of residents.
During World War II, on August 8, 1944, to be precise, the Kerisper Bridge was destroyed by the Germans. Nevertheless, it was necessary to continue the crossing between the two banks. Ferry boats were then installed, taking turns for 14 years to maintain access to the riverbanks.
It wasn't until 1956 that construction of the second bridge began. After two years of work, the new bridge stood out, impressive with its 86-meter-high arch. Since then, every passerby on foot, by bike, or in a car can admire an exceptional view of the port of La Trinité-sur-Mer and its channel, Quiberon Bay in the distance, or the Crac'h River."
