What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Town Hall and Belfry for its stunning Flamboyant Gothic facade, rich with intricate sculptures. The surprise of the Art Deco interior is also a highlight for many. While the exterior is freely admired, booking an interior tour is recommended for a complete experience.
"Located on the city's emblematic main square, the monument dates back to the 16th century.
Adorned with 173 sculptures, the façade is a true masterpiece of Flamboyant Gothic architecture. The mullioned windows on the first floor are truly magnificent.
Under the portico, in the central arcade, you'll discover a marble plaque bearing a Latin inscription by the poet Santeuil commemorating the siege of 1557.
We'll return for a guided tour, as the interior must be just as sumptuous as the exterior."

"Flamboyant Gothic-style building built in the 16th century. Guided or self-guided tours of the interiors: Art Deco decorations (inquire at the tourist office). I didn't do it myself, due to lack of time... I'll be back..."

"Saint-Quentin Town Hall is the emblematic monument of Saint-Quentin, a town with a rich architectural heritage. Construction began in 1331 and was not completed until 1509. Its Flamboyant Gothic façade is probably one of the finest examples of late medieval civil architecture in the Aisne region. It may be the work of Colard Noël, the king's architect.
The octagonal bell tower that tops the building was added in 1759. It houses a carillon of 37 bells dating from 1924.
The building was remodeled during the third quarter of the 19th century, particularly on its rear façade, then the interior was restored in an Art Deco style by municipal architect Louis Guindez in 1926.
It has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1984."
