Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Basilica of Sainte-Anne d'Auray for its beautiful neo-Gothic architecture and its profound spiritual atmosphere. The well-maintained grounds, including the Scala Sancta and miracle fountain, are highlighted as significant devotional sites. While generally well-received, some visitors note that it can become extremely busy during major holidays, making access difficult.

"Large neo-Gothic basilica built in the 19th century like so many churches in those days. Built as there was an increase of pilgrims who came to this sanctuary dedicated to Saint Anne, the grandmother of Christ.

Its history goes back to the time between 1623 and 1625 when Saint Anne allegedly appeared to the peasant Yvon Nicolazic and asked him to rebuild a chapel on this spot. That chapel was destroyed during the French Revolution

Around the basilica is a large area with the Scala Sancta, the miracle fountain, and the sanctuary of Saint Anne"
