The short, scenic walk to reach the hamlet is well-loved, though some note the lack of mobile signal and the importance of respecting the local residents. "A must-see, totally disconnected on this walk (yes, you won't have much signal!).
We started the walk in the parking lot at Chenal (about ten spaces available), then the trail is very well marked from there. A 30-minute gentle climb, a 3-minute steeper climb, and you're there!
Visited in mid-October with the fall colors and snow on the peaks, it was magnificent 🍂"

"Magnificent village, the contrast with the Mont Pourrie in the background is magnificent, a little corner of paradise"

"Just Wow 🤩🤩🤩
We were lucky enough to go to the hamlet of Monal in foggy weather and also see the peaks of the surrounding mountains covered in snow, all at the end of August!
The village, although very small, has an exceptional charm. These beautiful cottages in which a fire was burning take us back to winter.
To get there, park in the Chanal hamlet car park. There is then a 30-minute walk on small roads and hiking trails. The hamlets that we pass along the way have nothing to envy of that of Monal.
From Monal, you can go to Lac du Clou, a 1 hour walk. A little further away we find the Verdet, Blanc and Noir lakes."
