WW2 US PARATROOPER HELMET COLLECTION One of our favourite displays at the Airborne Museum in Sainte-Mère-Église is this collection of WW2 paratrooper helmet outer shells. Although quite well weathered, you can still see the remains of markings on the side - a full set of suits from a deck of cards. These markings identify them as being from 101st Airborne Division units - the Screaming Eagles. ...

Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Airborne Museum for its immersive exhibits and extensive collection of WWII artifacts, including aircraft and gliders. Many highlight the interactive parachute simulator and the compelling story of John Steele as standout features. While generally well-received, some note that the museum's five buildings require a significant time commitment.

"On the same level as the Victory Museum with as a topic the landings in June 44 to backup the invasion on the beaches. All is very well done, the visual guide I never saw anywhere but the should have that in every museum. My son loved it and said that although everyone is speaking about D-day experience your museum is hundred times better."

Rudi Van Arend

"Must see if you’re in St Mare Église - You get up close and personal with all the WW2 artefacts from the allies and axis. Great experience. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see all of the museums as there are 5."

William Rizk

"Really easy to find, good access and parking, gets crowded at peak times due to the nature of its significance both as a museum and town. The museum is not expensive £10 each and boasts pods of the elements of the airborne tactics and features. Nice to see an actual glider, aircraft and artefacts relating to their conquest of the village. Well worth a visit, toilets, shop, exit/entrance right into the village and famous eglise"
