Its origin remains shrouded in mystery, fueling local legends and stories. Designed in limestone typical of the region, this building is distinguished by its slender shape and conical roof. This monument, listed as a historical monument, represents a real enigma. Indeed, while some lanterns were used to mark cemeteries, others had a spiritual or protective function. The location of the Lantern of the Dead, near the old Saint-Sacerdos church and an old Benedictine cemetery of Saint-Benoit, reinforces its close link with medieval religious practices.
