"Definitely worth a visit! If you visit the enchanting village of Villefranche-de-Conflent, you can't miss it. The route starts within the fortified village and it takes about 20 to 30 minutes to reach the fort, where you can choose wether if going through a 1000 stairs or through the mountain with an easy -and uphill- forest track. Once you get there, a stablished route is followed from the outside to the inside and back outside, with a paper guide with all the different rooms and elements. There is also a bar with a terrace where you can have a drink afterwards. It is pet friendly 🐾."

"Got as far - in the car - as the jeune train station, maybe slightly above but the road quickly changes into a track and has stop signs 100m up. Assuming that the rest of the zig zag route has to be walked (?) but it was a v hot day (34C) and all uphill. Not this trip, thank you. We were a little sad as the fort looks beautiful, but the surrounding area made up for it. Google showed no other route to the fort, so please feel free to correct me if I went wrong."
