What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Point Venus is appreciated for its unique black sand beaches, historical significance with its lighthouse and Captain Cook connections, and beautiful surrounding views. It's a popular local spot, especially on weekends, offering a more authentic Tahitian experience. While amenities like bathrooms could be improved, the natural beauty and historical context make it a worthwhile visit.
"More of a local spot (than tourist) with black sand beaches, open air outdoor showers, bathrooms, and free parking. Gets very busy on weekends. Lighthouse was originally designed by Robert Louis Stevenson's father (it has been expanded since then) and is in the area where Captain James Cook visited to do scientific measurements. They have a number of information posters and some monuments that are of interest. Definitely worth a visit for these items, even if not planning to use the beach."

"Nice historical area. Wide beach that seems to be really popular with locals. Bring chairs/ towels etc. There are showers there but outdoor ans no soap allowed."

"Cutesy little beach area far from tourist zones. Not crowded at all. There was plenty of parking on a weekend when we went. The black sand beach was cool. There is a bathroom and outdoor showers on site. A small restaurant sells food near the beach."
