What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Te Fare Natura Ecomuseum Moorea for its enriching guided tours, affordable entry, and engaging exhibits on local nature and culture. The museum's sustainable architecture is also a notable feature. While some signage is in French, English-speaking guides ensure accessibility for international guests.
"We happened upon this museum after coming back from the lookout at Belvedere, and it was such a lucky happenstance. With admission, we got a personalized tour and learned so much about Moorea and French Polynesia. Tahiki was our guide, and she was amazing. I only wish we’d done this the first day we were here so I had more context and understanding of place names, cultural significance of things I’d seen, etc. While mostly centered on the native species in Moorea, the cultural aspects of the people of this island was the highlight for me. Well worth the entry fee, and a great stop! I’d book about an hour to an hour and a half for this small but impressive museum. I’d recommend it for kids 10 and up, too. There are some great interactive experiences mixed in with more traditional curated items and informational plaques. Pictures included are one in our group learning to read traditional music to follow the drumbeat, and the area right outside the museum."

"Our visit to Te Fare Natura - L’écomusée was a very happy one! 🌺🌿
We had a friendly welcome by the staff at the front desk and were offered the opportunity to visit the museum with a guide. We chose this option (at no extra charge) and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting! We don’t think the price was unreasonable at all for tourists - many museums around the world charge both tourist and local prices for tickets, which makes sense as it encourages and allows for locals to visit more.
There sadly seem to be some really disparaging comments in the Reviews section. We want to suggest that you would have the opposite experience of those!
If you first visit the museum with a guide, you will have a much more enriching experience and will benefit from local knowledge. You are more than welcome to wander around after your tour and look at any of the exhibits again and in more detail.
Our guide was very kind, professional, super patient with our switching between French and English, happily answered all our questions and had a fantastic knowledge of both the scientific facts and historical stories behind each section of the museum. All the guides / students were friendly and had great senses of humour too 😊
A Big Thank You and māuruuru to all the team at Te Fare Natura, we had a fantastic experience 🙏"

Most signs and their app are in French so bring your translator app as necessary.
