Merkur Mountain is a prime spot for breathtaking sunset views over Baden-Baden.
Visitors consistently praise Merkur Mountain for its breathtaking panoramic views and the enjoyable ride on the historic Merkur Funicular Railway. The free observation tower is a significant bonus, offering even more spectacular vistas. While the restaurant is generally good, some found the cake to be less fresh. A key piece of advice is to check for fog before ascending, as it can completely obstruct the views.
"Beautiful place! Found rather easily a parking spot near the funicular entrance (on Sunday afternoon, late August), for free, and then bought a ticket (up and down) at the ticket machine for 8,50 euros (payment by card, but cash is also possible at the vendor). The ride itself is beautiful, and the funicular is very modern and clean. At the top, you’ll get lovely views (heard that sunsets can be amazing here), and you can parachute or take several hikes. There’s a restaurant/café and toilets up there.
Highly recommended and so near Baden-Baden’s city centre, you can get here in less than 10 minutes."

"Great place! Amazing view. The cable car that goes to the top is very efficient. Clean, fast, and reasonably priced. The restaurant at the top is pretty good. The beef and the fish were good, but the cake felt a bit old."

"Ask about fog before you go up! We went up on the cable train only to discover that the view was completely blocked by fog (no fog at the bottom)... If it's foggy I don't think it's worth the trip up. Otherwise sounds like it would have been nice."
