What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Travelers generally praise the Big Bus Berlin for its excellent audio commentary, accurate bus tracking via the app, and the overall ease of navigating the city. The staff, like Enver, are frequently mentioned for their helpfulness. While the night tour is a nice addition, some find it non-essential for budget travelers. The system is easy to manage, allowing for flexible exploration.
"Big Bus Berlin has it right and has been the best big bus experience so far in Europe compared to Prague and Munich.
Excellent audio. Excellent and accurate bus tracking. Excellent perks and the night bus tour is a good addition, but I wouldn’t recommend it if in a budget- it’s just not necessary. Busses are clearly labeled and the whole system is easy to navigate and manage your time.
Cheers Big Bus Berlin!"
Larry Lozier, Jr
"I had about 1.5 days of free time to explore Berlin and happened to meet a very helpful customer representative near Stop 4 of the Big Bus Sightseeing route. His name was Enver, and despite the cold weather, he greeted me warmly and said, “Don’t worry, let me explain it to you and show you where to get your stuff.”
He patiently listened to my plans and recommended the 2-day pass, which even came with a nice Berlin tote bag! Thanks to Enver’s guidance, I managed to see and learn more about Berlin and Germany in just two days than I ever expected.
Thank you, Enver, your kindness and helpfulness made my short visit truly memorable one!"

"Superb tours, plenty of time to hop off, see the area, then jump back on the next bus. There are 2 routes, I only managed the larger red route and ran out of time to see the other, so get out there early if you want to make the most of it. One of the drivers, I saw a couple of times and he was really pleasant and chatty. I booked online through Viator and downloaded the Big Bus app which helps you navigate, that way you don't lose your little paper ticket. You can keep your phone charged on the bus too :)"

Navigating Berlin's Routes and Stops
Planning your itinerary around these routes is key to maximizing your time. If you have limited time, prioritize the Red Route for the most iconic sights. For a more comprehensive experience, consider a multi-day pass to allow ample time for hopping off and exploring each location. Some travelers recommend starting your day early to avoid the largest crowds and to ensure you have enough time to complete both routes if desired. Remember that bus frequency can vary, so checking the app regularly is advised.
When hopping off, be aware of your surroundings and note the approximate time until the next bus arrives. The app is invaluable for this. Some stops are located in bustling areas with plenty of amenities, while others might be more isolated. Always keep your ticket safe, as you'll need it to re-board. The commentary provided on the bus offers valuable historical context, so consider listening to it as you travel between stops.
Maximizing Your Hop-On Hop-Off Experience
Many travelers find the audio commentary to be a highlight, providing engaging narratives about Berlin's complex past and vibrant present. Ensure you have headphones to enjoy this feature. Some buses also offer charging ports, which are incredibly useful for keeping your phone powered for navigation via the app and for capturing photos. Don't hesitate to interact with the bus staff; they can often provide helpful tips and recommendations.
Consider the duration of your pass carefully. A 24-hour pass is great for a quick overview, while a 48-hour pass offers more freedom to explore at a relaxed pace, especially if you plan to visit multiple museums or delve deeper into specific neighborhoods. Some passes may also include additional perks, such as a city map or even a complimentary local treat, which can enhance your experience.
Berlin's Historical Significance and the Bus Tour
The audio commentary on these tours is often rich with historical detail, bringing the past to life as you pass by significant landmarks. For example, as you approach the Reichstag Building, you'll likely hear about its tumultuous history and its role in modern German politics. Similarly, the areas around Museum Island offer insights into Berlin's cultural heritage.
While the bus tour provides a fantastic overview, it's also a gateway to deeper exploration. Many travelers use the tour as a starting point, identifying areas they wish to revisit on foot for a more immersive experience. The ability to hop off and on allows for spontaneous discoveries and a more personal connection with the city's storied past.
