What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
While the Elsenbrücke area is plagued by significant construction and traffic congestion, it offers unique riverside views, particularly of the 'Molecule Man' sculpture. It's also noted as an exceptional spot for New Year's Eve fireworks, providing a memorable experience despite the urban challenges.
"Wonderful trip on the River, Dynamic City, Berlin is absolutely out of order 🤩🤩🤩"
Stefano Barbini
"Bridge under construction but even so, it provides a great viewing opportunity to see the Molecule Man.
But the reason I give it a 5* is because we came here at 11:30pm on NYE and were the only ones sitting here but by 11:45, hundreds of people turned up and made space through a construction fence down onto the riverside to allow us to see right up the river and view all the fireworks at midnight. Quite possibly the best view of the river for New Year's!"

"This place has one of the worst traffic jams in Berlin. Avoid if possible."

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
For a more relaxed family outing, focus on the riverside paths rather than the immediate bridge area. Pack snacks and drinks, as amenities directly at the bridge might be limited due to construction. If using public transport, the S-Bahn stations like Ostbahnhof offer good connections and are generally easier to navigate with children than driving through the congested zones.
🚗 Drivers & Commuters
Consider using navigation apps that provide real-time traffic updates to find the least congested routes. Alternatively, explore options like Park and Ride facilities on the outskirts of the city and complete your journey via public transport. The ongoing construction is expected to continue for several years, so these traffic challenges are likely to persist.
🚴 Cyclists & Pedestrians
Many Berliners utilize this area for their daily commutes or recreational rides. Be aware of construction zones and follow any temporary signage. The proximity to other cycling routes and attractions like the East Side Gallery makes it a good starting or ending point for a bike tour.

The long-term goal is to improve traffic flow and connectivity, but the interim period requires patience. Travelers are strongly advised to seek alternative routes or modes of transport, such as public transit or cycling, to bypass the worst of the congestion.
Despite the ongoing work, the Elsenbrücke area offers unique perspectives. The 'Molecule Man' sculpture remains a prominent sight, and the riverside provides a space for a more peaceful experience away from the immediate construction zones. Planning your visit around peak traffic hours or opting for off-peak times can significantly improve your experience.
