What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Grunewald Forest is widely praised as a vast, beautiful natural escape close to Berlin, perfect for hiking, picnics, and enjoying lakes. Visitors appreciate the accessibility, free parking, and dog-friendly areas. However, some find parts of the forest poorly maintained and can be annoyed by cyclists and dog owners.
"We did the 12 km hike it was supposed to take around 4-6 hours. It was a great experience and definitely worth doing at least once! Super fun overall. Pro tip: carry some food or snacks with you. One part of the trail was closed, but we still managed about 13 km and 19k steps totally enjoyed it!"

"Amazing place has a great car park and it’s free. It’s also safe as there was police patrolling at night. I would give it 10 stars if I could 👍🤟"
Ram
"Very dirty, a half of the forest is heavily disturbed after some heavy machinery, paths haven't been maintained since forever, also a lot of annoying Grunewalder cyclists and dog owners. It's large but still hard to avoid annoyances and it's not a real forest at all, undisturbed nature barely even exists there. More like a run down city park."
