"The Hünenburg telecommunications tower on the western side of the Teutoburg Forest is always worth a visit. Access is either via the access road from Quelle or via hiking trails from Bielefeld. Originally the site of the Three Emperors Tower (Year of the Three Emperors in the 19th century). The remains of the foundations are still fenced off and inaccessible on the Telekom site. After the Second World War, the old television tower was built, which was replaced by the new television tower in the 1970s. The old tower was then dismantled of its antenna platforms and is now a fee-paying observation tower with a small local history museum and kiosk. The view is magnificent and, on clear days, extends as far as the Egge Mountains. The new tower, a standard tower of the German Federal Post Office, is impressive but not accessible due to its active service."
