What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors describe Heidekastell Iserhatsche as a very strange and unique place, often likening it to a 'hoarder's palace' rather than a traditional castle. While some find the extensive collections overwhelming or lacking order, others appreciate the architectural ideas and the thought-provoking discussions it sparks about consumerism and simplicity. The guided tours are noted for being informative, though some feel restricted by the tour format.
"This is a very strange place... I was curious, but I left with a negative feeling: hoarding, money waste, and excesses like in 18th century castles, but taken to present times.
The building itself is not a castle but more of an overgrown property. The gardens are nice, but they don't have something truly special. The contents of the property are unbelievably large collections of weird stuff (match boxes, caps of coffee cream capsules, toys, porcelain animals, anything and everything); there is also a huge collection of unopened beer bottles, but they are displayed with no particular order to somehow appreciate them.
Positive was that it triggered a nice discussion with my family about excess of purchasing, waste, hoarding, housekeeping and simplicity, and practicality over quantity."

"Good place, a little run down in places, but overall good."

"Architektur is great and Idea of creating a history around a person and/or a family is good, but looks more like a hoarders palace instead of a museum. Will not highly recommend it."
