"Having visited during a workshop organized in the Castle, have to say i waa very shocked to see how the castle is falling apart. Many sections were closed due to lack of maintenance and the areas open to public was poorly maintained. The castle is indeed beautiful and has a great view of surrounding areas and forest and thus huge potential to be renovated and maintained and opened to tourists.

"The castle is was still in renovation when we visited. There is a friendly guide but only in german. We got to see the inside and a small tour of the castle. If you happen to be in Blankenburg then it is certainly one of the places to visit. I found the trip to the castle itself very enjoyable. Be prepared to walk for about 10-15 minutes uphill. The views from the castle are very scenic and the surrounding gardens and park is amazing."
