"This was once a toll station (according to the audio guide) where ships travelling along the river would have to pay a toll. I believe the cannons are a layer addition for the tourists. Interesting to visit, but only for a few minutes. There is a small park nearby."

There's trees and a statue to a german nationalist up there also.
