What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Heidhofsee is praised as a beautiful, tranquil spot for nature walks, especially appreciated for its well-maintained paths and abundant wildlife. Visitors enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and the convenience of free parking. However, some note it can get crowded in summer and emphasize that it's a protected reserve, not a recreational swimming area.
"A very beautiful lake for a walk. A walk takes about 45 minutes. The area around the lake is very spacious. It's a nature reserve, so you're not allowed to leave the paths. But that doesn't dampen the good mood at all. Yesterday, I hardly saw anyone, but it depends on the season and weather. In summer, it's often very crowded. A few benches and huts invite you to linger. Plenty of trash cans are available.
A large parking lot.
Near the Schwarze Heide airfield. It's a good place to stop for a break.
If you're a good walker or biker, you can also easily visit the nearby Heidesee, although it's considerably larger.
Overall, a wonderful spot in nature."

"Experience nature with consideration
Heidhofsee is idyllically situated in a nature reserve and offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy nature in its pristine state. The path around the lake is easily accessible and perfect for a relaxing stroll, where, with a little luck, you might spot various bird species, dragonflies, or even deer.
Important to know:
The lake and its surroundings are under strict protection. For this reason, swimming in the lake is strictly prohibited, as is leaving dogs unattended. Four-legged friends are welcome, but must be kept on a leash to avoid disturbing the animals and plants living there.
Walking on the shore should also be avoided, as many areas serve as refuges for amphibians, waterfowl, and insects.
Those visiting Heidhofsee should be aware that it is not a typical recreational body of water, but rather a habitat worthy of protection. However, the tranquility, clean air, and natural surroundings are precisely what make this place so special. A place that doesn't invite you to splash around, but rather to marvel, slow down, and take a deep breath.
Heidhofsee isn't a destination for swimmers or picnickers, but rather a paradise for nature lovers who take care when out and about. Those willing to comply with the rules of nature conservation will be rewarded with a rare natural experience."
