"The Pingsdorfer See is one of the Ville lakes that were created when brown coal mining ended in the mid-1930s. The holes in the opencast mines slowly filled with water as the groundwater rose again. The Pingsdorfer See itself was created in 1954 and has an area of 3.8 hectares. The lake is under landscape protection. Protected spawning zones have been set up here all year round, which may not be entered or fished for."
