What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Reviews for the Mosel Wine Express are mixed, with many visitors finding it a brief town overview rather than an in-depth wine experience as the name suggests. While the price is reasonable and it offers some castle views, the train can be crowded and hot, and English translations are not always available.
"We had expected more from the Mosel-Wein-Express. For an attraction that calls itself the Wein-Express, we thought there would be more vineyards along the route and more detailed information about wine. In reality, the train mostly drives through the narrow streets of Cochem and provides only very basic facts, things you could easily find yourself with a quick look online before visiting and routes you could easely walk yourself.
We were really hoping the ride would take us more through/near the wine fields and give us more insight into the local wine culture, but that was not the case. The train itself was extremely crowded, so you need to buy tickets early at the booth, otherwise it fills up fast. The price was reasonable, but the carriages felt very full and mostly HOT in good weather.
Overall, it’s not really worth it if your expectations of the Wein-Express are to see vineyards and learn more about the wine tradition here."

"Poor tour.
Train tours the back residential streets where there are occasional views of castle. A couple of very large bumps on potholes/kerbs which were very uncomfortable.
No English translation was available, despite their being 10 channel choices on the train."

"Horrible customer service. Don't recommend"
