What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find the Weißer Turm a charming landmark and a pleasant surprise when open, especially for its free entry and photography exhibits. However, its limited opening hours and potential for nearby construction can lead to disappointment if not planned for. Some find it less impressive than expected due to its size and limited access to the very top.
"Only got to see the outside as it was closed the day we were there. Still very cool."

"Slightly disappointed with this. It's not "that" tall and currently (march 2025) the area directly around it is under construction so you really can't get too close to it. Not sure if it's ever open to go inside."
Paul Heller
"My wife's mother is from Darmstadt and we visit there often. Since I am fascinated with high places (especially historic ones) I had always eyed the Weißer Turm longingly, but it never seemed to be open for tours. Well, this time it was and, according to their website they are now opening limited hours on Wednesdays and Saturdays! Entrance to the tower was free, but donations are welcome and they had a nice book for sale. Easy steps ascended to each floor, where a photography exhibit was on display, and windows offered a nice view. You can climb as high as the floor just below the clock works (see the attached schematic). This is nice, but, for a tower junky like myself, anything less than the very top is somewhat of a dissapointment. However, if you (like my wife) are somewhat acrophobic, and do not share my passion for heights, you will find this to be a simple and safe-feeling climb to a pleasant view. She made the assent, and actually enjoyed it!
Although the Weißer Turm does not really qualify as a destination attraction, if you happen to find yourself in the Darmstadt "Stadtmitte" on a Wednesday or Saturday, it is certainly well worth a visit!"
