What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Ostfriedhof Dortmund as a uniquely beautiful and peaceful cemetery that doubles as a public park. The impressive burial art, sculptures, and mature trees are frequently highlighted as major attractions. While generally well-loved for its serene atmosphere and artistic merit, some guests note issues with restroom availability, particularly on weekends, and occasional concerns about dogs.
"This is by far the most interesting cemetery in Dortmund. Lots of old and sometimes huge graves with art, statues and so on. Best of all, this is a public park where you can go for a walk or run whenever you like because it's opened all day and night. It also serves as the largest Ingress farm ground in Dortmund and the surrounding area."

"Schöner Friedhof."

"Really beautiful complex with great and impressive graves! Surprisingly, the Jewish part of the cemetery is included directly and is not surrounded by a wall as is usual for Jews. Great sculptures and ironwork, incredible trees and a pleasant size are a great combination here. The toilet facilities are probably only open half-day, which makes things a bit difficult if you're away for a longer period of time."
