At the heart of the Buchenwald Memorial stands the bell tower — a solemn symbol of remembrance and resilience. Inside the tower, ashes from concentration camps throughout Europe are sealed beneath a slab of bronze. The bell rings every hour, a symbol that these victims will be heard for eternity. Built in 1958, the tower rises above the former camp with an eternal flame burning in defiance of hat...

Reviews Summary

Visitors find the Busmannkapelle Memorial a beautiful and surprising Art Nouveau-inspired structure, even when temporarily closed, thanks to its transparent glass walls revealing interior exhibits. Its unique design and role as a memorial to the lost Sophienkirche are highly appreciated, offering a peaceful experience with few tourists.

"A very beautiful and strange church in the Art Nouveau style. Although it is rather just a building with a museum called a church. But anyway, I really liked this place, and it also surprised me. At the moment, the church is temporarily closed, I do not know for what reasons, but it is good that at least the walls of the building are made of transparent glass, and everything is visible inside, there is a second floor with exhibits and a model of the church, there is also a hall with stone figures and part of some ancient stone roof, also at the entrance there is a ticket office from which you can see that souvenirs on the theme of this church are sold there. Although the place is closed, I really liked it, it is located in the center, but in an alley. On the map it looks like a small dot with a view of Dresden, so it is difficult to find it from a phone. Nevertheless, this is very good, because there are few tourists there. I liked the place so much that I would really like to visit there and I advise others to do the same. I put a hundred stars if it were possible!"

"Reminiscent of the Gothic St. Sophia Church from 1351, it was the main Protestant church in Lutheran Saxony. It burned down in 1945 as a result of bombing and stood in ruins until demolished in 1962. Then, the large and popular HO restaurant complex "Am Zwinger," known as "Fresswürfel," was built there (closed in 1992, demolished in 2007). A piece of history of the Florence on the Elbe that is now only a memory."
