Clifford's Tower, York, UK The Normans first made the original mound of Clifford's Tower. In 1068 a timber structure was created by William the Conqueror.  This stood for just over 100 years until being burned down in 1190 in one of York’s most terrible moments, when 150 Jews were massacred. The castle was later built in stone. #england #york #history #jewish #jewishhistory #instatravel #natgeotr...

Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Hausmannsturm Tower for its breathtaking panoramic views of Dresden's historic skyline, calling it the best vantage point in the city. The inclusion of tower access with castle tickets is a significant plus. While the climb involves many stairs, it's generally considered manageable and rewarding, with the added bonus of seeing fascinating clockwork mechanisms inside.

"Beautiful view. Use your ticket from the museum to go up to the top. There are quite a few stairs but they are well lit and incased. I am afraid of heights and it wasn't a problem climbing up. However, it can be a bit windy on the observation deck and the fence isn't too high. You are not allowed to take bags or drinks with you."

"The views from the tower's balcony are truly amazing. The entrance fee is included in the ticket for the castle."

Ivan Gerken

"The Hausmannsturm is a tower in the old town of Dresden and the oldest surviving part of the Dresden castle complex. There's not much to see in the tower. The tower has a clock and inside the tower, you can see the mechanisms of the clock, which is actually quite fascinating. The height of the tower is over 100 metres and the views are amazing, especially as you can get a close up look of the sculptures on Dresden Cathedral and a bird's eye view of Theatreplatz.

I entered Hausmannsturm as part of the combined ticket for Dresden Castle and it's well worth the effort for the views."
