The smooth, well-maintained road and the small entrance fee are frequently mentioned as positive aspects, making it a highly recommended scenic drive for nature lovers and road trip enthusiasts.
"Wonderful drive, it's really a toll road that brings you up the mountain and down again in a loop.
The views from the road are absolutely gorgeous!
Head up early to watch the sunrise, shoot timelapse photos of the clouds etc. It's also the location for many scenes from The Sound of Music."

"Magnificent view. In my opinion might be better than Eagles Nest. Eagles Nest is probably too high with too much clouds blocking the view. Took the public bus up instead of hiring a car. Interval is 2 to 3 hours but we managed to spend the time just walking around viewpoints. Along the way uphill, able to see the mountainous view gradually. Bus ride on 19 Oct 2025 costs only €2 to and fro trip. Well worth the $."

"A wonderful winding road leads both up and down through the clouds. 😍 Absolutely stunning! The road can be reached by bike, car, or bus. However, there is an entrance fee for this section, depending on the mode of transport. For a car it was €9.50."
