"We usually visit Steinhaus during our anual Christmas Market trip to Erfurt ... this year they have changed their menu ... reduced choice (no “Thüringen pan”!) but quality of dishes on new menu seemed, if anything, slightly improved, and certainly very good, and reasonable value. Limited vegetarian options, but again what they do offer is good. Very much a “no frills” venue targeting students (but usually with a very varied clientele when we’ve visited), good service."

"During the week it is of course easy to get a table, the service was great, the food was very good, we wanted to eat dumplings. The beer garden is also good for a beer, but I can't say exactly whether both belong to the same operator.

"We ended up in the Steinhaus quite unexpectedly during the hustle and bustle of the Christmas market. The waitresses were very friendly and accommodating, the food that was served to us after a very short waiting room was very tasty and fresh. If you like something more exciting and stylish, you should go to a star restaurant and spend your money there. We'll be back."
