The interior, when accessible, is often described as surprisingly bright, colorful, and beautiful, with a dominant blue hue. The church's resilience, having sunk significantly due to mining, adds a unique historical dimension. However, the inconsistent interior opening hours are a frequent point of disappointment for those hoping to see inside.

"A very beautiful, historic church in Essen Stoppenberg, even inside. Its proximity to the Zollverein Coal Mine and Coking Plant World Heritage Site is interesting. Considering that the church has sunk by almost 20 meters due to mining damage, the building is all the more impressive."
