The Christmas market in Frankfurt was absolutely beautiful!

Hauptwache Market is the first Christmas Market in Frankfurt that I visited. I started by looking out over it from the 7th floor of the GALERIA (on Zeil street) while it got dark and then went down to join in. There were lots of festive activities, food stools, drinks (mould wine and hot chocolate especially) and for the children there was a little train! #travel #adventure #travelblogger #explor...

Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the massive scale and festive atmosphere of Frankfurt's Christmas markets, particularly Hauptwache. The wide variety of food, drinks (including vegan options), and affordable prices are frequently praised. While the markets can get very crowded, the overall experience is described as magical, traditional, and safe, with live music adding to the charm.

"This Christmas market is absolutely massive, stretching across multiple streets and branching into charming side markets that are just as delightful as the main area. There’s something for everyone here, with an incredible variety of stalls offering everything from traditional German Glühwein (alcohol free versions available and very tasty) and hot chocolates to international drinks and delicious coffees, cold alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. The food selection is equally diverse, with options for every taste — including some great vegan choices.

Handmade decorations, souvenirs, small fairground rides, and cozy areas with stand-up tables and heaters make the whole experience both festive and comfortable. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and wonderfully traditional, with a stage in the main section hosting live music, carol singing, and other performances throughout the days and evenings.

What really stood out was how surprisingly affordable everything was, especially for such a large, internationally known market — you’ll definitely spend more at places like Birmingham or Manchester’s Christmas markets. On top of that, the entire market feels secure, with concrete barriers, visible but friendly police presence, and an overall sense of safety without it being intrusive.

If you’re after a Christmas market that truly captures the festive spirit, this one is a must-visit. Highly recommended!"

"Visited market yesterday in the evening. Festive atmosphere. There was kiosk selling kebabs, I bought pork kebab . It was really tasty , I recommend it. I had hot drink with cherry Likör . It was also very good . There was build hut , and hey were selling yellow candles , from honeycomb. Also I highly recommend to buy paper stars ,I bought red one many years ago, it turned out to be such high quality, that I am still hanging it every Christmas."

Aigul H

"The design of the space was absolutely stunning, with the Christmas tree stealing the show—truly mesmerizing. And yes, adults can ride the carousel too (personally tested and approved!). However, the area wasn’t very spacious, making it quite crowded and a bit challenging to walk around."
