"Perfect place for family and children, there have a lot of activities to do here. I bought a ticket at the counter and took a (big) cable car to the mountain, but i’ve taken a train when im going down. The scenery is so amazing! You can see the Eibsee lake while you’re riding the cable car."

"It’s been a dream to visit Zugspitze, the glacier and ride the record breaking aerial tram for a very long time. After visiting in late January I feel like I could spend and endless amount of time in this incredible place. The aerial tram is awesome, the summit stations are incredible, the glacier skiing is literally one of a kind in Germany.
Not a resort you go to for the skiing, skiing is just part of the overall experience!"

"Great place just close to Zugspitze. A heaven for ski and fun ride on snow in the winter.
There are rental ski gadgets also you can bring your own.
Also the cafe is good for snacks, meal and coffee or beer.
You can either go by train or cable car, both rides are enjoyable."

The Journey to the Top: Transport Options
Many visitors combine these modes of transport for a comprehensive experience. For instance, taking the cogwheel train up and a cable car down, or vice versa, allows you to enjoy different views and experiences. Families often find the cogwheel train particularly engaging for children. It's worth noting that different ticket combinations exist, so research which option best suits your itinerary and budget.
Key takeaway: Plan your ascent and descent to maximize the scenic variety and enjoy the engineering marvels that make Zugspitze accessible. Consider purchasing a round-trip ticket that covers your preferred combination of transport for convenience and potential savings.
Eibsee: The Jewel at Zugspitze's Foot
Eibsee serves as a crucial transport hub for reaching the Zugspitze. The Eibsee cable car (Seilbahn Zugspitze) departs from here, offering a direct and rapid ascent to the summit. Many visitors choose to start their Zugspitze journey from Eibsee, enjoying the lake's beauty before heading up the mountain. The contrast between the vibrant blue of the lake and the rugged, snow-capped peaks of Zugspitze is truly striking.
Pro-tip: If you have time, dedicate a portion of your day to exploring Eibsee. The walk around the lake is relatively easy and incredibly rewarding, offering a different perspective of the Zugspitze massif.
The Melting Glacier: A Glimpse of Climate Change
Despite the melting, the glacier area still offers a unique experience. In winter, it's a popular spot for skiing and snow activities, providing a surreal landscape for winter sports enthusiasts. Visitors can walk on the plateau and observe the glacier's current state, offering a moment of reflection on environmental changes. It's a powerful visual that underscores the urgency of climate action.
Consideration: While visiting the glacier, be mindful of the changing conditions and any safety advisories. It's a unique opportunity to witness a natural phenomenon that is sadly disappearing.
