"The Thick Tower was erected in 1250 (it was mentioned as early as 1305). It is also known as Stone Tower due to its location at the exit of Steinstraße (Stone street).
Over the centuries, the appearance of the building has changed only slightly.
The tower is 46 meters tall and its walls in the lower part are 5.34 m thick.
The stone bas-relief of Briccius Gauske was added in 1852. Initially it was placed in the outer Women's Gate, however that gate was demolished in 1852 and the relief was transferred to its present location.
