"A really fascinating relic of a dark period in our history, and one of the few places where significant bits of border infrastructure remain.

It’s free, open 24 hours and there are information boards all around the site telling you what’s what.

Along with the Gedenkstätte Deutsche Teilung Marienborn (old Checkpoint Alpha road crossing) just down the road and the Zonengrenzmuseum in Helmstedt, this is a must-see for anyone interested in Cold War history."

Tim Fletcher

"I guess this is the only reconstructed border between Eastern and Western Germany worth visiting. Entrance is free, lots of parking slots, and quit a lot of english information available. There are 12 different information boards. Take at least one hour to dive into this dark part of Germany history!"
