"Heidelberg University, full name Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg, was founded in 1386. It is the first university in Germany and the third oldest university in Europe. It has developed from theology, law, medicine, and philosophy to nearly 30,000 registered students in 12 colleges today. University Square is the core of Heidelberg University. Near the square are many university-related buildings, departments, and former residences of important scholars in history. Next to the University Square, there is an old university (Alte Universität) built in the early 18th century and a new university (Neue Universität) built in the early 20th century. At Plöck 107, not far from the square, is the university library. This is a building that combines Germanic Mannerism and Art Nouveau style. It is very beautiful with red bricks and gold. There are also rare books on display for free.
• How to get there:

Tips
Heidelberg is a university town. The university campus is integrated into the old town without any boundaries. School gate? No. A nameplate with the school name written in big letters? Neither. The atmosphere of the school should be felt slowly, rather than identified by its name. Today, Heidelberg University still has a large campus in Neuenheimer Feld, the northwest area of Heidelberg. If you are interested, you can take bus 31 from Universitätsplatz and get off at Uni-Campus station.
A large part of Heidelberg's Old Town is the territory of Heidelberg University. The university campus is integrated into the old town with no boundaries at all. I walked aimlessly through the University Square and the Student Prison. The Student Prison costs 2 euros. I hesitated but didn’t enter. The University Square is very inconspicuous. If it weren’t for the map, I wouldn’t mind at all. From here, I walked along the main street to Bismarck Square."
