What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Hildesheim is praised for its charming, historically rich atmosphere, with visitors appreciating the meticulously reconstructed buildings and UNESCO World Heritage sites. The tourist information center is often highlighted as a helpful starting point, though some reviewers have noted inconsistent staff attentiveness and limited multilingual support.
"Hildesheim is a very lovely city to discover, with a rich historical charm. The staff at the tourist information center are very kind and welcoming. Unfortunately, there were no snow globe souvenirs in the shop at the moment, but they do offer a variety of other items. The buildings around are historical monuments, meticulously reconstructed to their original forms from the 15th and 16th centuries. Many changes from the last few centuries have been removed to restore the original appearance of these beautiful structures. Exploring Hildesheim feels like stepping back in time. Highly recommended for history enthusiasts and casual visitors alike!"

"Rather unfriendly. We waited patiently for someone to help us but neither of the two staff members seemed interested in helping us. One was busy gift wrapping at glacial speed and other chatting to a restaurant proprietor so clearly visitors are a secondary concern."
