What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Liebfrauenmünster for its majestic Gothic architecture and breathtaking interior. Many highlight the impressive scale, calling it one of the biggest churches they've visited, and appreciate the historical artifacts in the small museum. While not a monastery, its grandeur lives up to the 'Münster' title.
"Münster Zur Schönen Unserer Lieben Frau, as "The Minster of Our Lady of the Beautiful" is a Catholic parish church ( Upper Parish ) in Ingolstadt, in the Bavarian Diocese of Eichstätt.
This late Gothic church, dating from the 15th century, is a borderline case between a hall church and a pseudo-basilica. The designation "Minster" refers not to its function as a monastery church, but to its size, as it's probably one of the biggest church I've ever visited, really spectacular.
This church was also gave its name to the Upper Parish, which was built after the Lower Parish of St. Moritz.
Particularly, Münster Zur Schönen Unserer Lieben Frau has a good collections of Catholic assets, the Nativity Scene figures dated back in 18th century, and a room full of 18th Catholic artifacts.
Definitely worth a 1-hour visit if you're in town."

"It is not a monastery but the name refers to the majestic size. built and completed in 100 years. though the Two Towers were never finished with 62 and 69 m high. the Church kept its original architecture dated to the medieval ages and the interior with the main aisle and the altars surrounding it will leave you speechles. theres a small museum at the left end of the church for old valuables from the 1500's. a screen is installed with buttons to show you the levels of construction with the buildings part built and the date that took each to be completed.Impressive."
