"The Neue Pinokothek (€7 per adult) is a modern art museum in Munich where you view a quality collection of 19th century modern art. Opening hours are 10am to 6pm daily with extended hours on Wednesday evening until 8pm. The museum is closed on Tuesdays.

Entrance fee includes an audio guide which is allows you to learn more about individual artworks as you make your way through various galleries. Rooms are numbered chronologically and there is a natural path which takes visitors through the entire collection.

During our midweek visit, there were few other visitors, allowing a relaxed visit throughout. Here you find a good representation of notable international artists such as Goya, Manet, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Van Gogh, Gainsborough, Turner, Klimt, Schiele amongst many others. There is also a good representation of German artists including Heinrich Maria von Hess, Peter von Hess, Peter von Cornelius and Caspar David Friedrich.

Our visit lasted around 2.5 hours. We enjoyed the collection and would return for another visit during future visits to Munich.

Note that the Die Pinakotheken museums in Munich are only €1 to enter on Sundays so try visit 2-3 on the day if you are a museum lover and want to save a bit on museum entry fees."
