"The oldest university in Marburg..I couldn't get inside, but from outside it is looking severe and Protestant."
Matteo Galli
"The old university building is a magnificent structure! It conveys a sense of past architecture and gives a glimpse into what it meant to construct such buildings back then. The crowning glory is certainly the Old Assembly Hall, which the university uses primarily for festive occasions. Anyone entering the hall, which is accessed via a walkway, will be awed from the moment they enter. It's worth visiting both the building and this hall."

"Awe-inspiring!
A beautiful, historic building complex that also includes the old university church.
The church, a former Dominican monastery, was built in 1291. One wing of the Old University was built between 1873 and 1879, and another between 1887 and 1891 (see Wikipedia).
The buildings were integrated into a single, large complex that is very interesting, impressive, and beautiful.
The Old University is centrally located in Marburg at the junction of Rudolphsplatz and Universitätsstraße.
From the Upper Town, it can be reached via Wettergasse, and from Rudolphsplatz and Untergasse, via Reitgasse.
The main entrance to the church wing is from Wettergasse.
If you want to visit the building complex, take the bus to the Rudolphsplatz stops in both directions.
If you're not so good on foot, as the Reitgasse or Mühltreppe are steep climbs, you can take the Oberstadt elevator to reach the upper town at the level of Lehmann's bookstore.
From there, you can easily walk down the hill to the University Church, and from there, you can tour the entire building complex.
You can read more about the very interesting history, the individual building sections, and their functions on Wikipedia."
