Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Frauenkirche Meißen for its stunning Gothic exterior and the spectacular panoramic views from its tower, which is accessible for a small fee. The historical significance of the original stones and the preserved tower keeper's apartment add to its charm. While the interior is noted as modest, the overall experience is highly recommended, especially for its affordability and scenic vantage points.

"Church dates back to the early 13th century. It was first mentioned in 1205. After the devastating city fires, a new building was erected between 1450 and 1520.
Its Gothic exterior is far more interesting than its interior which is relatively modest.
The biggest attraction of the building is its tower. To be able to get to it, you need to get a key and pay a fee (ask at the information booth inside the church). The panoramic view from the tower over the city is spectacular.
Almost at the top of the tower is the apartment where the tower guard lived. It was built in 1549 when the tower was rebuilt. Meissen's first tower keeper (Turmer) took up his duties at that time. In the summer of 1907, Julius Schmiedecke was the last tower keeper to leave the tower. The tower apartment includes the kitchen, a living room and a chamber."
