What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Vogelherd Archaeopark is currently closed and fenced off, leading to significant disappointment among past visitors who lament the inaccessibility and perceived commercialization. While the archaeological significance of the site is recognized, the current state has overshadowed its appeal, with some suggesting alternative natural experiences are preferable.
"They put up a construction fence around my childhood cave and then took off. I wandered around helplessly looking for an entrance, so a driver got worried and stopped.
May Zeus cover this construction fence in thunder and lightning."
Dieter Krötel
"Visits to the cave have been closed since January 1, 2023!
The entire archaeological park has been closed since the beginning of 2023, and the entire grounds, including the Vogelherd Cave, are still inaccessible in summer 2023! It's a shame how much money was wasted to deprive visitors for a few years by fencing off a previously freely accessible cave and spoiling the surrounding landscape with buildings, statues, parking lots with ticket machines, etc.!
The fence surrounding the cave must be removed! And the remaining part of the park must be renaturalized! It's a shame that it will probably take significantly longer to restore it to its former state than it did when the area was commercialized!"
Bernd Pfanzelter
"The park and the museum look quite good from the outside – but not anymore. Both, as well as the associated Vogelherd Cave, have been closed and off-limits since January 1, 2023. The entire area is fenced in. What a shame."
