What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Pirna's Old Town is widely praised for its beautiful, well-restored historic architecture and charming atmosphere, especially along the Elbe River. Visitors appreciate the numerous eateries and the pleasant ambiance for strolling and window shopping. However, some find that town festivals, while lively, can detract from the historical experience by obscuring the architecture.

"Pirna's old town immediately captivated me with its charm. Numerous well-preserved historic buildings, an impressive town church, and an atmospheric market square, all picturesquely situated on the banks of the Elbe River. I was glad I made this trip. Unfortunately, my visit coincided with a town festival. While such events have their charm, if you're looking to specifically explore the architecture and townscape, the many colorful, often kitschy stalls are rather distracting and unfortunately obscure much of the historical backdrop. Unfortunately, my Canaletto view wasn't of the Canaletto House, but of the stalls in the market square."
