Reviews Summary

Topplerschlösschen is a charming historical gem, praised for its unique architecture and scenic location in the Tauber Valley. Visitors appreciate the historical insights and the picturesque walk, though the steep climb back up is a common point of note. Interior access, while not always guaranteed, offers a deeper connection to its past.

"Lovely but steep walk to get there, can also drive up to location. Cool building but can only go inside if house next door is open and fee is payed. You can still get a good look from outside though. If walking head to the castle garden from city and find path south that takes you downhill."

"This was kind of a hidden gem in Rothenburg odT. It's off the beaten path, or maybe I should say down a very steep path. And then of course back UP the same path. For anyone not up to the walk I believe it's accessible by car, but I didn't observe any parking. Can't say for sure.

Anyway, the lady who greeted me at the door is one of the owners. She collected €3.50 from me ... not sure if you can buy advance tickets.

She told me her dad renovated it in 1978, and it's in great condition. This was the vacation house of Heinrich Toppler, who was the mayor back in the 1300s. Lots of folklore around this man, and there's an impressive monument to him in the park back up the hill.

There were any number of attractions and museums I could've visited, but I'm really glad I came here. I recommend it."

Mike Gentry

"By car or bicycle it is easy to be reached and safe however as a walker I did not feel safe as the Taubertalweg is a road without a pavement and not very wide. The little castle is quaint but I was not able to go I side."
