Reviews Summary
Agia Sofia Cave is a small but beautiful natural wonder with a rich history, offering a rewarding climb and stunning views. While the ascent can be steep, the unique chapel and geological formations inside make it a worthwhile stop. Some visitors note the presence of vocal birds, but overall, it's considered a charming hidden gem.
"Small but beautiful cave. It also has a nice history/legend behind it which i encourage you to search for. The way up to the cave is a bit hard however since there are quite a lot of steps. Avoid doing in in the hottest hours of the day and go on your own rhythm especially if you have leg/knee issues. I don't recommend to pass by and check it out!"

"Small cave with a tiny icon-filled chapel inside that’s free to see and able to be explored in 20-25 minutes, including the 257 stairs up and down. Inside there is a clear walking path that has a few additional stairs.
There were a few others when we visited but it wasn’t busy.
Parking is on the street layby, and had space for a few cars plus a bus when there.
Tavern about 1/4 of the way up had food, drinks, seats with views, and toilets."

"A beautiful stop with a lovely (though steep) climb up the stairs. The view from the top is worth the effort, though it might be a bit challenging for those with mobility issues. The cave itself is small but interesting, with a peaceful and historic atmosphere. One thing to note: the birds inside can be quite vocal, which might be a bit unsettling if you’re not a fan of birds. Still, it makes for a quick and scenic pit stop on your way through the mountains—definitely worth a short detour!"
